About Us

REIMainStreet.com is an online review site designed for real estate investors to share experiences and obtain information to help each other make more informed decisions about real estate investing training, systems and services. Our web site thrives on the generous contributors who have decided to take time to share their experiences with the world.

Training

Let’s face it – there is a lot of real estate investor training out there. LOTS of it! It is pitched very well and sounds very compelling. I remember when I was starting to look at real estate investing I was paralyzed by being given too many approaches, techniques and business models that sounded very attractive. As soon as I was about to commit to finding short sales, I heard a great pitch about multi-families that stopped me in my tracks. When I was about to pull the trigger on multi-families I listened to a teleseminar about controlling million dollar homes using an option… and on it went.

Of course if the training had been inexpensive I would have simply bought it and decided what to do after that. But, as you know, very little of it is inexpensive, much of it is thousands of dollars. I found some of the gurus more believable than others but I was having to make decisions based on my gut feel, which I knew wasn’t going to be as trustworthy as I wanted!

Four years later, what I know now is that frankly some of the gurus do a much better job than others; some are practicing investors and others are not; some are giving up to date techniques, systems, tips and tricks, others are teaching things that are way out of date and/or don’t work in practice; some give honest to goodness training, some waste your time pitching more training to you.

So the question is – how do you separate the wheat from the chaff? How do you know the good ones from the bad? How do you know whether a book, home study course, seminar, teleseminar, or bootcamp is going to be the real estate investor training for you?

This is where REI Main Street works for you. Where people in your shoes tell you, by giving reviews, what is good and what is worth spending money on. This is where real estate investors help other real estate investors.

Systems and services

There are more and more tools for real estate investors that are useful, available and cost effective. Whereas just a few years ago you had to do a lot of legwork to get a foreclosure list, now you can sign up for an online service for just a few bucks a month and everything is at your fingertips. Same with property data. You can now get decent property data for free or for a few dollars per month get great data that you can filter, manipulate and package up for your buyers. Every month it seems that there are new systems and services that could potentially make our lives easier.

But which are the most useful services? What do your peers use and what do they like/dislike about the tools that are out there? Which ones work and have good quality data, which ones do not?

REI Main Street provides the answers to these questions. Books, training, gurus, systems and services are reviewed for investors, by investors. Our role is to simply moderate the reviews to make sure they meet our standards.

Full disclosure – How is this site funded?

As you might imagine there are costs associated with running a site such as this. To cover these costs we do have ways of being compensated. In plain English here are the facts....

REI Main Street does not sell anything, you can’t place an order on our site and we do not have our own training products hidden away somewhere in the site. We are investors who know a little about web-sites and online marketing – we are not gurus, trainers, authors, system or service developers.

There is no payment of any kind to REI Main Street for a vendor to appear on the site. It is free to get listed on the web-site.

However if you see a link from REI Main Street to a vendor’s own site there is at least a chance that REI Main Street will be compensated:-
  • Either….. we have signed up for affiliate programs for those vendors listed on the site who run such programs. This means that if you click from our site to the vendor’s site and purchase within 30 days we will get a small commission. If you do not purchase we receive nothing.
  • Or….. for those that do not offer an affiliate program, we give them the chance to pay us an annual link placement fee.
  • You will see some listings where there is no link to an external site – this means this vendor does not have an affiliate program and they have not paid for a link to their site.
Importantly, whether REI Main Street is being compensated or not has absolutely no impact on whether a vendor is listed, where they are listed (e.g. rankings) or how their reviews are moderated. In other words there are no favorites, preferred vendors, back door deals, secret compensation, ulterior motives. If you have questions about this, please ask us!

If you sign up for our email, you should know there is no charge for a vendor’s event to be listed on the email. However there may be links to their web-sites for which we may be compensated in the same way as listed as above. We also may take sponsorships from vendors for the emails and this will be clearly indicated in the email.

The goal of this site is not to earn a ton of money (it would be nice, but it ain’t going to happen!). We simply want to provide an independent community site and cover our costs for doing so.
